What is Dungeons & Dragons?

Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop roleplaying game. One person, the Dungeon Master, describes the world and the situations. The players each control a character and say what that character tries to do.

The rules help decide uncertain outcomes, especially when danger, pressure, or risk matters.

What is this site for?

Dungeons Hub is a player-facing library and group ledger. The Handbook explains D&D concepts. The Party Ledger tracks group status and campaign information. Table Operations lists administrative tools and future capabilities.

What does a player do?

A player listens to the situation, decides what their character tries to do, and asks questions when something is unclear. When the outcome is uncertain, the DM may ask for a dice roll. Your character sheet supplies most of the numbers.

What happens during a session?

  1. The DM describes a situation.
  2. Players ask questions and say what their characters do.
  3. The DM decides whether it works, needs a roll, or has consequences.
  4. The story moves forward through conversation, choices, and occasional dice rolls.
